medal and citation to Padma Shri Dr Anoop Misra at a function organised on the occasion
of Diabetes Research Centre Annual Gold Medal Oration on 18 March 2012 at Chennai.

Roglic of the Dept of Chronic Diseases & Health Promotion, WHO, Geneva, were also
present on the occasion.

The 3rd Fortis C-DOC Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases & Endocrinology
was opened for OPD on 21 February, 2012 at B-16, Chirag Enclave, (opp Nehru Place),
New Delhi, which is a unique state-of-the-art, 25 bed hospital for Diabetes and
related disorders all under one roof, under the chairmanship of Prof Misra, who
leads a consortium of internationally renowned experts to provide services and procedures
according to globally accepted protocols. Fortis C-DOC is a stand-alone tertiary
clinical, research and training centre and the first of its kind centre in all of
north and central India.
- Dr (Prof.) Anoop Misra conferred Distinguished Professorship of Institute of Life
Sciences (ILS), Hyderabad - Feb 2012
Dr Anoop Misra has been conferred the Distinguished Professorship of the Institute
of Life Sciences, Hyderabad w.e.f. from February 2012. ILS would be setting up a
Centre of Excellence in metabolic diseases and research under Prof. Misra’s leadership.
- Dr David Heber and Dr Luigi Gratton of Herbalife visit N-DOC, DFI and Fortis C-DOC

Dr. David Heber, MD, PhD, FACP, FACN, Chairman of the Herbalife Nutrition Institute,and
the Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB) comprising leading health and nutrition experts,
and Director, Center for Human Nutrition at UCLA, California, and Dr Luigi Gratton,
Vice President, Nutrition Education and Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board visited
DFI, N-DOC and Fortis C-DOC Centres at SDA, Chirag Enclave and Fortis Hospital,
Vasant Kunj, on 16 January 2012 for a meeting with Dr Anoop Misra and his research
team, for a research collaboration. The meeting was followed by refreshments and
Dr Misra gave both Dr Heber and Dr Luigi a token of appreciation on behalf of Fortis
C-Doc, N-DOC and DFI.
- N-DOC, DFI & Fortis C-DOC release findings of study on Oils - Jan 2012
National Diabetes Obesity & Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC), Diabetes Foundation
(India) & Fortis C-DOC Centre of Excellence for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases & Endocrinology,
under the guidance of Dr (Prof) Anoop Misra released the findings of a study on
Oils, Metabolic Diseases & Liver at a press conference on 11 January 2012 at India
Habitat Centre.
This study is a first-of-its-kind clinical study to test the benefits, if any, of
the use of Olive and Canola Oils amongst Indians. Trial partners included Dept.
of Cardiology, Command Hospital, Bangalore, Institute of Genomics and Integrative
Biology, New Delhi, Dept of Food & Nutrition, Govt MH College of Home Science &
Science for Women, Jabalpur, and Dept. of Medicine, All India Institute of Medical
Sciences, New Delhi. The study was funded by Dalmia Continental and the lunch that
followed was sponsored by Leonardo Olive Oil & Hudson Canola Oil.
- Diabetes Awareness Walk conducted from Rose Garden to Deer Park in Hauz Khas Village
via Aurobindo Market, New Delhi - NOV 2011
Many hospitals and organisations joined hands to hold a campaign in the form of
a walk for Diabetes Awareness, on November 12 from Rose Garden to Deer Park in Hauz
Khas Village via Aurobindo Market. Over 300 residents from all over the city participated
in this walk.
This walk was held under the aegis of Diabetes Blue Fortnight.
This walk was a sweet initiative organised jointly by Fortis C-DOC Centre of Excellence
for Diabetes, Metabolic Diseases and Endocrinology, National Diabetes, Cholesterol
and Obesity Foundation (N-DOC) and Diabetes Foundation Of India (DFI).
