CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2008 - 2009

 


DFI and Department of Science & Technology jointly organized a Nutrition Symposium at INSA, New Delhi on 5 April 2009 to release the data of a country-wide multi-centric study on nutrition among women over 35 years. This study was jointly carried out by AIIMS. Dr. Anoop Misra, Dr. Vinita Sharma of DST and Dr. RM Pandey of AIIMS addressed the media and responded to their queries. Eminent nutritionists and clinicians participated in this hugely lauded event. The post-lunch session comprised of a consensus meeting to draw up new dietary guidelines for obesity and metabolic syndrome, to be released shortly.


Dr. Anoop Misra and the DFI team participated in the Indo – US Diabetes Summit (14-15 February 2009)

Nutrition Workshop for schoolchildren was held in various Gurgaon Schools on 4 February 2009 in association with Ms. Veena Eagleton, IAS.

Delhi Medical Association (DMA ) and Diabetes Foundation (India) jointly organized a CME on 18 January 2009 on “Newer Concepts in Diagnosis, Monitoring and Management of Obesity, Lipids and Diabetes Mellitus” at the DMA Auditorium, Daryaganj, Delhi. Eminent specialists in the field participated in the CME.

A Summit on Obesity, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases was held on 15-16 November, 2008 at Hyatt Regency Hotel, New Delhi to draw up new guidelines for Obesity, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases.

This was followed by a Press Conference on 25 November 2008 to release the Consensus Guidelines of Obesity, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases arrived at by the team of experts at the Obesity Summit

A research study in India on the “ Health Effects of Pistachios on Cardiovascular Factors” conducted by DFI was launched on 13 August 2008 as part of its tie-up with Paramount Farms California Pistachios, at the Longchamps Room, Hotel Taj Mahal, New Delhi. This was followed by a press conference addressed by Dr. Anoop Misra of DFI, Dr. Ravi Kasliwal of Global Healthcare Ltd. and Mr. Dominic Engels of Paramount Farms.

12 Health Camps were organized by DFI at various Delhi Schools under the MARG – THE PATH study.

Community health awareness camps were held at Safdarjung Club, New Delhi on the occasion of Senior Citizens’ Day celebrations on 28th September 2008 and 19 October 2008. Dr. Anoop Misra addressed a large gathering at the Club and responded to their health queries. Similar camp was held at Friends Club, New Delhi, on 21 December 2008 and at Primary School, Sadiq Nagar on 25 January, 2009.
